Zoo - Aug. 17

A friend from the CP Center and I ventured down to the Milwaukee County Zoo a few weeks ago to check out the Birds from Down Under exhibit, Oceans of Fun, and of course go around the park to see all the other animals.

The parakeets were rather hungry when we happened to go into the exhibit and we were definitely the main attraction with our food. The birds would actually fly right at you and land on you. Reminds me a bit of our old bird Bobby, super friendly.Of course the only time it rained during our adventure was during the Oceans of Fun Show but it cleared up just in time for us to get a picture taken. Finally, and with no picture to prove it, we had a fun encounter with the surrogate mother orangutan. We were watching her and her adopted baby at one end of the cage when she walked to a barrel, picked it up, placed it right in front of us, and proceeded to sit on it and watch us. She was blowing raspberries at us (and us at her) and mimicking our moves. For instance, one lady was redoing her pony tail and she started to do the same motions on her head. Good times!
