Two Weeks

I only have two weeks remaining of my time here in Waupaca. It has been rough at times and yet a great experience at the same time. There is a part of me that would like to stay longer or even come back next summer (as it has been offered) but this might also be the time to shut this chapter of my life. As a camper, counselor, and now as an intern this has been the 12th year of summer for me at this camp. If I return in the future, depending on where I end up after graduation, I plan to be on the other side of things and not doing so much of the grunt work!

Thank you all for you prayers and support thus far....please keep it up, we've got two more weeks to go!!

Success!

After being placed on a one year deferral because of my trip out the country I was eligible to donate blood. In the past I haven't been able to because of low iron but today I did it! It may seem minor but that is super exciting to me and I'm so glad to have been able to help save a life! Woot woot!!!

Happy Birthday Alan!

Hey old man! Hope you are having a wonderful birthday. I thought about you many times today as I was writing the date on food I prepared in the dining hall. How exciting huh?! Many blessing and many more years...glad you're in the fam!

My "New" Home

Now that all the family campers are gone I was able to move the camper to a more ideal spot. Oh yes, for those of you who may not know... I am living in the camper for my internship. With how high camp registration is up they weren't able to house me but were willing to left me pull into their campground and plug in for free! Anyways...I am now settled in a new place and love it. Feel free to visit!!

Time Off

I was able to enjoy some time off for the holiday, contrary to what I had been originally told when accepting the internship. This meant meeting up with Mom, Dad, Abi, Drew, and a friend of Abi and Drew for a Brewers baseball game (where they won 9-1) and early afternoon of observing animals on Saturday (Abi emcee-ing a show at Oceans at the Milwaukee County Zoo). Too bad it's back to the grind tomorrow with a huge turnover to send away the families and bring in the kids on Monday morning. Should be interesting. Please enjoy the pictures!!

Hot Housekeeping

As of Monday I have officially started my internship. This is kind of a weird week though because it's Family Camp this week and not a Kid's Camp. I'm not really getting as much interaction time with the students as I was hoping for, since I don't want their parents to think I'm a creeper. But as long as I make it through this week I should be alright!

I have been doing a lot of housekeeping and preparing rooms for guests. During family camp the motels are actually provided with bedding and towels and things so I am being kept quite busy with that. Personally, this isn't my idea of fun, and let's add the hot weather, but I guess this is what running a camp is all about. I'm looking up to things getting better as the summer goes along!

Please know I am very thankful and highly covet your prayers during this time here. It's going to be busy and yet is likely to be lonely. Thanks!
