shamed

i'm feeling shamed...big time. all day long i took a bunch of harassment about wearing my brewer shirt around campus and didn't try to defend them cause my expectations were low but still tried to hold my ground. oh man! i'm so not excited to walk around and see people i talked to today. not to mention that even some staff in the cafeteria made fun of me for my shirt. so this evening, after coming back from a meeting, i started watching in the 8th only to find out that we once held the lead and lost it. gets even worse that i was watching with a crowd of all cub followers. what a shameful evening, my tail is between my legs!

Day of Caring

Part of our training for leadership is service. Each year a day of the training is purely dedicated to serving the people in our county through yardwork, minor construction, painting, etc. This year I was teamed up with a group from a local business to trim trees, mow the lawn, weed, put up a gutter, and put up a wheelchair ramp. To my understanding the wheelchair ramp was allowing the wife to come back home from the hospital, otherwise she wouldn't be able to get into her house. While we weren't able to talk with the family much, since the husband was with his wife at the hospital all day, it still felt like we were able to make a difference in their lives. Definitely an awesome experience that I would love to have again soon!!

Back to the Grind

So, I'm back at school and busier than if classes were in session. Since August 10th (until the residents come on the 18th) I've been in training for my position as a Resident Assistant. While it's been informational and often quite fun, it's SUPER exhausting. It's a fact that none of us are getting enough sleep. Between room condition checks, cpr training, day of service in the community, and decorating our halls and student doors, sleep is pretty low on the totem pole. Sure hope it all slows down when they get here! I've heard it does! Here are a few shots of the room and hall to give you a peek at the RA life. Thanks for all the support thus far!
